Independent Democrat for Congress

About Me
I’m Christopher Robinson Tompkins the Third! (A name that’s so long, it’s really absurd!) So folks call me Rob, it’s much easier, see, And now I will tell you the story of me.
My family was there in old Seventeen Seventy-Six, Where history’s magic and politics mixed. We made some mistakes, we got some things right, We stumbled by day, but we shone in the night.
The Civil War came along—on the wrong side we stood, But aftewards we worked to do something good! We helped built a hospital, healing and grand, That’s VCU’s center, now well-known in the land.
We fought in World War Two, helped Ike when he led, And cleaned up the earth where our children would tread. (My father worked hard as an engineer green, Protecting the planet, and keeping it clean!)
Yes I've climbed mountains some high and some small, North Carolina's Looking Glass and Yosemite's walls. I've ridden my bike through the lands west and east, From the deserts of Utah to Shenandoah's great piste.
I’ve seen the dark shadow where gunfire rang loud, At Virginia Tech’s halls, in the midst of the crowd. Friends wounded, lives taken, a silence so wrong, Yet out of that pain, I still carry this song.
As for myself, oh I’ve paddled away, Down some rivers you bet in this great U.S.A.! I got just so good that they sent me to Spain, To compete in freestyle kayaking’s world championship game.
I’ve worked as a teacher, a tutor, a guide, And now I’m a coder with great tech as my pride.
I’ve dabbled in math with discoveries anew, I’ve written up music, I’ve coded things too!
I’ve cared for the broken, the weary, the worn, And helped NASA’s systems get safely reborn. So now I would like, with my heart and my song, To step into Congress and help us along.
For people are people, not lesser, not more, Together we’ll open America’s door. It’s not just the rich, not the powerful few, This country’s about me, and also about you!
